Monero is a privacy aware or privacy-focused cryptocurrency coin. If you are looking for private transactions, Monero is probably the best choice.

Other coins that are privacy focused include SpectreCoin and DeepOnion.

Monero is on a different blockchain than Bitcoin for example. These blockchains are public ledgers of activities that show all the transactions on the network. But allegedly, the blockchain of Monero is different than other public blockchains. It is purposely made to be more obscure. It works by obfuscating the so-called digital wallets addresses that people are sending Monero from, making it even more anonymous.
